The film distributor
Disruption is the highly competitive industry business of launching and sustain films in the marketplace films don't become a talking point or find there place in the word,by accident, the distributors aim is to bring one to the market.
There job is to
1.Identify the audience.
2.Consider why they would go to see it.
3.Estimate the revenue potential across all formats of its release
4.Develop plans and partnerships to build awareness and interest in the film.
5.Aim to create interest in going to the theater to watch.
6. Persuading exhibitors (Cinema operators) to play the film.
When marketing a film you need to pay attention to who your demographic for the film and tailor for them, for example you would not use an internet campaign for the elderly because they are not known as tech savy; Its important to do audience research when making a film; this is because you can then tailor the film to suit your audience.
I chose to go with the abc1 target audience and also the 15 classification; as you can see when making my poster and magazine cover I wanted them to be clearly different products which have similarities. For example there is a drawn out colour from the magazine but this is lacking from the poster this is because it would impracticable to do this in a place where everyone can see it and where it will stand out.
when making my poster I took special attention to the shot type and to keep it simplistic, as you can see in most of the comparisons on the video, they are all very minimalist; focusing mostly on the image so I got an image I thought would be most appropriate and only kept key information on the front.
When making the magazine I compared with most horror magazine styles, they all tend to let the image in the middle show and have information purely on one side and not the other, I also found that it varied what side the information was on. I believe this is because visuals in a film magazine are important because film is a complete visual art; even more so in horror due to all the show of it.
As you can see in the video, in combination all of my products makes the product sell well, the use of everything together helps amplify the effect of each; if I was to advertise my product. People who read the magazine would go and watch the film and if the magazine has an appropriate article it will allow the audience to know what they will get when they watch the film, the film poster might make people more likely to buy the magazine and read it, it would also amplify the attraction to the film, and the film does the same for the poster and magazine. They all keep to the same house style so that the film can be more accurately represented.
